Open Champion Cam Smith will take a comfousrtable three shot lead into the final round of the LIV London, with the champion Aussie adding a second day adding a four-under par 67 and move to 12-under on the host Centurion course jut to the north of London.
Smith Ripper team-mate and fellow countryman Marc Leishman also added a 69 to move to nine-under but in jointed in second place by Belgium Pieters, who carded a 67 to be alongside the Aussie.
Smith, who will defend his Open title next fortnight at Royal Liverpool, again commenced his round from the first and while dropping a shot at the opening hole he was back level with a birdie at the second. He did drop another at the third before it was all forward gears over the course of the closing 16 holes – picking-up birdies at six, nine, 11, 13 and the last.
“I was probably both a little bit scratchy today. I can’t really talk for Marc,” said Smith. “But I know myself it was a good day of grinding. I really stuck in there today. But probably a little bit of work to do on the range tonight.

“It was also just a long day. I think it takes — it’s always tough to back up a really nice round, and I think that took it out of me, and then again today kind of grinding around and having to think a little bit more than what I wanted to.
Of course, Pieters is not about to rule of his hopeful delight in also capturing a maiden LIV title.
“I’m going to have to play really well to beat Cam,” he added. “Even though he didn’t have his best [round], he still shot four-under today.
Regardless of whether Pieters is able to overthrow his Aussie rival on Sunday, his impressive showing around the St Albans course will be a huge positive following his tough start to LIV life.
“Yeah, I feel like my game is getting very close to where it should be,” he said discussing his improvements. “I feel like I can contend any week if it’s on form.”
