The Saltire flag dominates the top of the Made in Himmerland leaderboard with a trio of Scots in contention heading to the weekend round of the premier Danish event.
Oban lefty Robert MacIntyre posted a second round 68 to be in second place at eight-under par while Marc Warren and Richie Ramsay, each with four-under 66s share fourth at six-under.
Spaniard Nacho Elvira, and thanks to nine birdies in a sizzling eight-under 62, heads the field by a shot at nine-under in the bright but continuing windy conditions.
MacIntyre looked set to build on his overnight two-shot lead with three outward birdies but he stalled over his inward half with eight pars and a bogey.
He said: “It was solid. Really good opening nine. Putted it nicely but the putter just went a wee bit cold on the back nine but, all-in-all, it was solid after yesterday’s round to come out and shoot a reasonable number. It’s all positive.”
Warren, 47, and winner of the event nine years ago, got his round off the flyer with four birdies in succession from the outset and none birdie other than sinking a 41-footer for birdie at par-3 third hole.
He moved to five-under for his round with a birdie on seven and while dropping a shot at eight, Warren birdied 12 and 14 in lowest round since opening with a 64 in the December 2020 Dubai Championship.
As well, Warren put himself in position to secure one of three spots on offer this week into next fortnight’s Open Championship.
Warren said: “It was nice getting out in a bit of sunshine this morning. Less wind after the battle yesterday afternoon, so it was nice to take advantage of the better conditions this morning. Got off to a really hot start.
And Warren has fond memories of double success in Scandinavia, also winning the first of four Tour victories 17-years ago at the 2006 Scandinavianters in Sweden.
He said: “Good memories, feelgood factor, always helps. Some of the signage up around the place, you see the year you’ve won, there are a few plaques around the place so it’s really nice. It’s been mentioned a few times this week so that always brings back good memories.
“Got the usual kind of comments yesterday: ‘Scottish, you’ll be used to this’ (smiling) and all of that but, to be honest, speaking for myself, I don’t think there are many more fair weather golfers than me.”
Ramsay grabbed seven birdies in his round, and with the Renaissance attached Scot delighted with his showing.
He said: “I’m getting used to the course a little bit more, played very well, missed one fairway by a yard so that set me up well off the tee. Make a few putts and it helps”
