The record-breaking duo of Rickie Fowler and his fellow American Xander Schauffele, setting a new championship record of 62 and some 30-minutes apart from each other on the opening day of the U.S. Open.

It is only a third time in the history of the four men’s majors someone has shot 62 and Fowler and Schauffele now joining South African Branden Grace who posted golf’s then lowest round during the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Hereunder, is all the facts, figures and informaton on the efforts of Fowler and Schauffele.

Rickie Fowler (T1/-8)

  • Equals his lowest round on TOUR (62/2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open/R2)
  • Eighth career 18-hole lead/co-lead on TOUR; 1-for-7 to date in converting the opening-round lead/co-lead into victory (2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open)
  • Holds his second opening-round lead/co-lead in a major championship (2017 U.S. Open/T5)
  • T2 in 2014 marks best finish in 12 prior U.S. Open starts
