Double Masters winning Bubba Watson has a particular point to pick with PGA Tour Commissioner, Jay Monahan.

It’s nothing to do with the likes of Watson and his fellow LIV Golfers being banned from competing on the PGA Tour.

Yes, it does focus on one event just prior to Christmas that is sanctioned by the PGA Tour and that is the unique PNC Championship at the Ritz Carlton course in suburban Orlando.

Watson, 44,  has revealed ahead of this week’s fifth hosting of the now Asian Tour’s Saudi International at the Royal Greens course that his now 11-year-old son, Caleb’s growing fondness for golf.

Watson last contested the PNC Championship in 2020 and spoke then of the delight Caleb, then aged eighth, had in being present and now that Tiger Woods has had his own, Charlie as partner, Watson’s son has been asking his father why they can’t play as a father-and-son team

But as we all know, Watson’s decision to join LIV Golf has, at least for the time being, ended such dreams for the Watson’s and other LIV golfers who have a son or daughter who would also like to contest the PNC.

However, it’s not going to stop Watson speaking with Monahan, should their paths cross in the first week of April at Augusta National.

“I will see you (Jay Monahan) at Augusta National and I will be begging him to let my son and I play the PNC Championship,” said Watson.

“I’ve never taken a dollar from the PNC as the two times I’ve played the PNC twice since my dad passed away in 2010, has been alongside my father-in-law, and each occasion I have presented the prize-money I’ve won to a children’s hospital.

“So, playing the PNC has not been about the money for me, as it’s been about helping others.

“It’s also one day about playing the PNC with my son. It’s a cool tournament and my son gets disappointed that he and I can’t play but there’s still the great delight for him that he can caddy for me in the Par-3 Contest”.
