Scotland’s David Drysdale posted a closing round of 71 to muscle his way among the leading 24 qualifiers heading to next fortnight’s Asian Tour Q-School final in Thailand.
Drysdale, 47, shared 14th place at the close of Section C Asian Tour qualifying among 119 starters on the famed Blue Canyon course where in 1998 Tiger Woods, as the then Masters champion and his first major, overcame an eight shot deficit on the final day, shooting a 65 to beat Ernie Els in a play-off and capture the Johnnie Walker Classic. The win was a second of 41 European Tour counting victories for Woods.

No such heroics needed for Drysdale, and with wife Vicky on the bag the affable Scot comfortably qualified for the January 18th commencing final five rounds of qualifying, and should the affable Scot finish among the leading 35 he’ll earn a full Asian Tour card.
Full membership will afford the Borders golfer the chance to tee-up in the opening event of the 2023 Asian Tour and that being the LIV Golf sanctioned $5m PIP Saudi International teeing-of on February 2nd along the Red Sea shoreline in Saudi Arabia.
Drysdale chose to enter the Asian Tour qualifying after the disappointment of losing his DP World Tour card at the end of last season.
