Stevie G Hoping There’s Another Low One In His Bag For Final MIH Round

Stevie Gallacher’s confident there’s a second ‘low one in the bag’ heading into the final round of the Made In HimmerLand in Denmark.

Gallacher began golf’s traditional ‘moving day’ just four shots off the lead but a third round 70 for an eight-under par tally saw him slip to a share of 14th place.

The good news for the Bathgate pro is he’s among a big group of players within six shots of the lead while he’s five off second and only three away from third.

Austrian and defending Danish champ Bernd Wiesberger continues to lead the way and despite a bogey at the last in posting a third round 68 for a 14-under par tally.

Sweden’s Alexander Bjork, who aced the par-3 17th on Friday, birdied the same hole in a round 65 to be one back on 13-under par.

England’s Laurie Canter shot a 64 to be two adrift on 11-under par and with six at 10-under par including 48-year-old Richard Bland (68), who will lock-up a US Open tee-time next fortnight should the recent British Masters champ finish top-10.

Gallacher spoke post Friday’s round of 64 of a goal to join the recent group of ‘Golden Oldie’ winners such as Bland, Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood and Stewart Cink with victory in Denmark.

Though that goal may have to wait until next week in Germany as Gallacher was headed to the range to sort out a few issues post his third round that included three birdies and two bogeys.

He said: “I’m a bit disappointed as I had a lot of chances out there.  I didn’t hit the ball as well today as I did yesterday.

“I also got out of position three or four times with three or four shots and if I don’t do that, I could have been 12-under and that just killed me, so that’s why I am disappointed and just made a couple of bad decisions at the wrong time.

“Apart from that I’ve walked off shooting under par and after shooting a 64 yesterday, I still feel there is a low one in the bag for tomorrow so I will just keep plodding away”.

Aberdonian David Law birdied four of his closing eight holes in a 67 to be one back of Gallacher at seven under par.

Crook of Devon’s Calum Hill signed for a one-under 70 to be on five-under while the event’s top-ranked Robert MacIntyre will be looking forward to this coming week off in managing just two birdies also in a 70 to be back at four-under.
