Past Masters winner, Danny Willett celebrated a 10th straight BMW PGA appearance with an equal season low of 62 on day two of the flagship event at Wentworth.
Willett snared an eagle and seven birdies, and with his only blemish being a 14th hole bogey for a then share of the clubhouse lead with Spaniard Jon Rahm (66 & 67).
The Englishman’s round matched a similar 65 on day three of The Open and on route to Willett finishing T6th at Royal Portrush.
“It was one of those days, really. We hit a lot of good shots. Holed some nice kind of mid-range putts and I think with the wind picking up it’s probably better that you don’t expect that coming in,” said Willett.

“You just try and hit some good golf shots and see what it gives you, and fortunately today it gave us a pretty quick start.”
The Callaway-attached golfer is contesting just his third event this year on European soil and having spent of much of 2019 plying the PGA where he contested 19 events to make the cut in a dozen, and with a best finish of that T6th at The Open while he was T8th in the RBC Canadian Open.
But it was Wentworth course knowledge, and where he first teed-up in 2010 to shoot a first round 65 ahead of a brilliant 5th place that helped Willett today.
“This is my 10th straight year here. I’ve had a couple nice finishes, and the game is in good shape,” he said.
“It has been for a while and it’s just nice to come back. The crowds have been amazing for two days, good weather and the golf course is in great condition. This weekend you’re going to have a real good leaderboard and we’ve put ourselves in a position to be right up there.”
And Willett is also benefittin from have coach, Sean Foley with him this week.
“We spoke most days when I’m at home and working pretty hard in the off-weeks, and we are doing the same thing we’ve been doing for a while,” he said.
“We do keep trying to make the move better and get more comfortable with certain ball flights in the wind, and really trying to make sure that when we get on the golf course, we try and just make them moves and not try to think about too much other stuff.
“Yeah, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but I guess that’s golf.”
Indeed, and with Willett producing an eagle and 12 birdies over his two rounds.
