Knox Soaring To Share Of Second Thanks To A ‘Bang-Bang’ TPC Boston Round.

TPC Boston, MA ….

Scotland’s Russell Knox ended his round near 7pm local time brilliantly sharing second place on day one of the Dell Technologies Championship near Boston.

Knox capped his round in holing his 109-yard second shot for an eagle ‘2’ at the par-4 15th.

The reigning Irish Open champion had birdied 13 and then also birdied 16 and the 18th holes.

“It was great.  I think I was just plodding away and playing okay.  And made kind of a mess of the 12th hole from the middle of the fairway,” he said.

“At that point of my round I was even par and then I hit a good shot into 13 to three-and-a-half feet that got me under par and then I made a great par on 14 after driving it in the rough and I wedged it close and made the putt.

“Then holed my wedge shot on 15 before hitting a 6-iron on 16 to two feet.

“The round was just good in four holes.  So, it was nice. I haven’t had one of those litter bang-bang runs in a while.

“So, as I said it was one of those rounds I was just playing okay and all of a sudden I found a little spark and was able to get it to five-under, so it was okay.”

Knox’s score was his lowest commencing PGA Tour round since signing for a 64 on day one of the January 2107 Sony Hawaii Open and in an event he would go onto finish T11th.

While it is Knox’s second-equal lowest round of 2018 and just a shot shy of the 64 he shot on day two in January at the Sony Open while a week later he also signed for a 64 on day two of the Career Builder in Palm Springs.

“This round is now a great springboard into day two and it was just nice to get through that little tough stretch and come out the other end smiling as I was,” he said.

“It was also tricky out there today as the wind was swirling while some of the greens were fast and there was others very slow.

“To be honest, I thought anything under par would be a great score so to get to five-under will sure make dinner taste all that better tonight.”
