Austin, TX …
Jordan Spieth tees-up in this week’s $10m WGC – Dell Technologies Match-Play Championship still looking for a first taste of success this season.
This in contrast to both Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson and with all three currently the only ‘active’ players in with a chance of joining the most exclusive club in all of golf.
McIlroy ended an 18-month winless drought with his sensational victory last Sunday in the Arnold Palmer Invitational while Mickelson, at 47-years of age, had won two weeks earlier in capturing the WGC – Mexico Championship.
Spieth has two bites of the victory cherry before heading to the Masters and that is this week and also next week’s Shell Houston Open.

Spieth was asked by www.golfbytourmiss.comĀ if McIlroy’s victory just three days ago made the 28-year old Northern Irishman a better bet now to join the Grand Slam club before both he and Mickelson.
“Well, when I was asked that question before, I said Rory was obviously the favorite, because he gets the first chance,” he said.
“So he would be in the driver’s seat. But, yeah, whether he won last week or not he’s always a force. He just needs to be healthy. And I think most of last season, it was a struggle for him because he knew that he couldn’t have the ball count that he wanted to be at his best, and yet he was still playing because it wasn’t like he had to sit out.
“So just being rested, healthy and on the right path meant this year and going forward Rory is Rory.
“And so he should always be a favorite at any event.”
