Knox Excited To Be Heading To Long Island For Play-Offs Start.

Greensboro, NC ….

Russell Knox was wasting little time in jetting off to New York’s Long Island in readiness for Thursday’s start to the lucrative FedEx Cup Play-Off Series.

Knox walked from the course agonisingly missing what would have been a sixth birdie of his final round in an eventual four-under par 68 for a Wyndham Championship clubhouse share of 25th place at nine-under par.

Russell Knox ends his round at the Wyndham Championship.

Scotland’s top-ranked golfer capped his round early on in chipping-in from 18-feet and just off the green at the par three, second hole while he also delighted in seeing his 22-foot birdie putt disappear into the cup at the par four, 11th.

In a welcome and timely return to form, but in continued heatwave conditions, Knox recorded 17 birdies over the four days and hitting 39 of 56 Sedgefield Country Club course fairways.

However, Knox struggled somewhat on the greens in averaging 30.3 putts over the four days, and best on day two of just 28 putts in his then round of 66.

“I am excited now to be going into the Play-Offs because my game feels very good right now”, he said.

“It really does as I continued to drive it pretty well today but looking back this week, I was off line a few times and I didn’t make as many putts as I needed to but I felt good with the putter while my iron play feels incredible.

Russell Knox happy to sign for his fan following his final round at the Wyndham Championship.

“So, I feel optimistic heading to Long Island and going straight up there later this afternoon.

“We have never played Ashbury Park in a tournament so I wanted to get an early look at the course and while I might take the day off tomorrow, I may just pop in later tomorrow afternoon.

“But I do need a break after the heat we’ve had this week and while it is an unknown there is so many great golf courses on Long Island and I am sure it will be a great test”.

Knox arrived in Greensboro 61st on the FedEx Cup standings and will head north to Long Island still ranked 61st and the assurance, at this stage, of contesting the first two of the four-event Series.

Joining Knox will be fellow Scot Martin Laird who had been forced to withdraw after the first round in Greensboro due to a ‘personal’ issue.
