Charlotte, NC …
It has been just a few weeks but Jordan Spieth said it has been awesome the reaction from those who he has shown the Claret Jug.
The Open Champion has hardly little time to fully savour his Royal Birkdale victory apart from the immediate week after his third Major success in travelling with his father and brother on a fishing trip to Montana.
“It has been absolutely awesome to see the reaction from those when I hand them the Claret Jug to hold“, he said.
“I have loved sharing it around and to see to how my family and my friends have reacted is just so enjoyable for me.
“There has been many beverages we have already drunk out of the trophy and just checking out all the names who have won The Open and also noting there was no names during the two World Wars has also been amazing.
“And unlike the U.S. Open trophy the Claret Jug is a lot easier to carry around“.
However, the now three-time Major winner has yet to spot the mistake on the Claret Jug and that is the spelling of the 1947 venue – “Holylake“.
“No, I haven’t noticed that but I will have the chance in time to study the Jug more closely“, he said.
