Glasgow-born Scott Jamieson is primed to end a 13-year Scottish victory drought At BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Scott Drummond was the last Scot to find the shortest route around the famed “Burma Road” course and now after rounds of 67 and 70 Jamieson enjoys a share of the clubhouse lead on day two of the event.
Jamieson joined Belgian Thomas Pieters atop of the board at seven-under par as the afternoon half of the field took to the course.
Jamieson produced an amazing start to his round • Bogey • Par • Double Bogey • Birdie • Bogey • Birdie & Birdie through six holes before grabbing three birdies in succession from the ninth hole.
He the played the last six in one over that included a bogey at 15.
“It wasn’t a great start. They are tough holes. It’s a tough stretch of the golf course, the first three holes, especially the way the wind was blowing today,” he said.
“The last thing you need to do in that situation is panic. Just try and take a wee minute to yourself and start again. Q. Seven birdies in nine holes, was a fantastic way to get things back on track.
“But the putter then warmed up. Hit a couple of nice shots and yeah, that was certainly a nice way to turn it around.
“This is a massive tournament. That’s why we play, so if I can just keep doing what I’ve been doing the first two days and hopefully I’m in a good place.”
