Dublin, Ohio …
Greg Norman revealed his lives less than a mile from Tiger Woods residence on exclusive Jupiter Island in Florida.
However in all that time Norman says he has never met Woods and remarkably in the many occasions they have been at a Tour event or involved in a Presidents Cup has never spoken more than 20 words to the 18 times Majors champion.
But then the double Open winning Norman is no different to everyone else who has been asked to comment on the events of last Monday involving Woods.
“I cannot comment on what Tiger is going through and all I can comment is on my own observations”, said Norman shortly after his induction at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.
“I actually feel sorry for him. There is nothing worse in life and seeing someone in a dark place.
“For Tiger, well to step back and look and look at the virtues of life and the value of life, I hope he does get back and I hope he does get better.
“It is a lonely place, and it has to be. But then I don’t know if Tiger is in a lonely place and it has to be if you are putting yourself in a situation like that.
“But then I really do not know him, at all. He lives about three–quarters of a mile from me but I don’t ever see him but at the end of the day you feel for him, and I think everyone feels for him right now and that is especially in our world of sport.
“The thing is also the locker rooms in golf are a tight fraternity and whether you think you know the guy or you don’t know the guy or whether it is your best friend, you still have to feel sorry for Tiger”.
