Nicklaus Undecided If He’ll Attend Trump’s Inauguration Ceremony.

Orlando, Florida …

Golf’s greatest-ever golfer Jack Nicklaus remains uncertain if he and his wife, Barbara will accept the invitation to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony later next month in Washington.

Nicklaus, and a winner of 18 Majors, revealed it is the third occasion in his illustrious career, he’s be asked to attend a USA Presidential inauguration having previously received an invitation by 38th US President Gerald Ford and 43rd US President George W. Bush.

“I don’t know yet what I am going to be doing as I’ve never been to an inauguration ceremony,” said Nicklaus.

“I’ve been invited up in the past by (Gerald) Ford and (George W.) Bush so now Donald’s invited us up to Washington, so I don’t know whether we are going to go or not.

“I’ve talked several times to President-elect Trump and I had some fun with him the day after the election.  I sent him a text to congratulate him and I put in the text that more importantly we haven’t got the 18th green sorted out at Trump Ritz.

“He actually called me right back saying: ‘You have a memory like an elephant’.  I said well come on, you need to get that green fixed before you can move on to more important things.

“He had a good laugh and it was a nice conversation.”

Nicklaus was commenting on the final day of the two-round Father and Son tournament in Orlando, Florida having teamed with eldest son, Jack Nicklaus 11 but struggling to end near the tail of the field.

“I just played awful and really didn’t have much fun the way I played,” he said.

“Jackie and I still had a good time over the two days and really he carried me and I just occasionally made a putt but I don’t think I’ve ever played in an event when I’ve hit the ball this badly and it was magnified by about 10 as that’s how bad it was.

“So it was just one of those weeks when my preparation for this event just didn’t get me there because I actually played worse than I prepared.”

And when asked what does he now do with his golf clubs Nicklaus responded: “I put my clubs away now till they have to be used again and not when they need to be used again.

“That will probably be in a charity event around February or March.”
