Scott Jamieson Draws British Masters Inspiration From Marc Warren’s Dunhill Links Showing.

The Grove, Watford. England ..

Scott Jamieson is gaining inspiration from good friend Marc Warren’s Dunhill Links effort to wrap-up his Tour card at this week’s British Masters.

Jamieson fired a six-under par 65 to join a group in third place on nine under par and just two strokes behind England’s Richard Bland who birdied his closing two holes in a 64 for an 11-under par tally.

Fellow Englishman Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston and Swede Alex Noren, each with 65s, share second place at 10-under par.

Jamieson, 32  snatched six birdies, including three in a succession from his 15th hole, in a best score since a similar 65 in last month’s Italian Open on route to a share of seventh.

Warren’s fifth place result at St. Andrews last Sunday saw him jump from 125th on the money list, and 10 spots outside the top-115 who retain Tour membership, to 70th.

Now Jamieson, who’s currently 117th on the Race to Dubai money list, is looking to do the same.

He said:  “Definitely, what Marc managed last to do last week is inspiration for me.  We’re great friends, and it’s great to see what he achieved at St. Andrews.

“I feel as though if he can do it, then I can probably do it, as well. Hopefully, it will be me this week.”

Warren birdied his last in a score of 69 to move to seven under par.

Also putting himself in frame for a good season finish was Stephen Gallacher with three birdies over his closing four holes in a round of 67 and inside the top-20 at five under par.

He said:  “I just felt much better today as it was freezing when we finished last night, so it wasn’t as cold this morning.

“I just played great today and a 67 is probably the worst I could have scored.

“I played good last week and that’s been good inspiration for me this week.”

Gallacher, and just four events short of 500 Tour appearances, needs a strong finish to his season as he’s currently lying 144th on the money list and not have to draw on his top-40 all-time money earning exemption for 2017.
