Rory McIlroy Reckons He’s Not Far Off From Posting 63s, 64s & 65s.

Four-time Major winning Rory McIlroy finally produced one of the trademark rounds that has been missing his game shooting a four under 67 for a four under tally on day two of the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.

McIlroy, and without a win Stateside this year, grabbed six birdies in his round on the TPC Boston course.

It was his lowest round since a similar 67 on the final day of this year’s 145th Open Championship at Royal Troon.

“It’s been a matter of holing a few more putts and getting some momentum going but that’s the sort of round that’s been lacking in my game of late,” he said.

“And what I saw on the greens today I feel like I can go ahead and shoot more low scores and not struggling shooting one under, two under or even.

“So if I start to get on a run I can see 63s, 64s and 65s out there which I have not seen for a few weeks and I felt my performance on the greens is the best it’s been for a long time, and I can only be encouraged.

“I’m coming off the course really happy.  I mean the score could have been better but I felt like my performance on the greens is the best it has been in a long time.”

The effort on day two of the $US 8.5m event left McIlroy eventually sharing 30th place at four under par and seven shots behind American Kevin Chappel who posted the equal lowest round of the day, a seven under par 64 to lead by a shot at 11-under par.
