Danny Willett Earns Special PGA Tour ‘Special Membership’.

For a second year running England’s Danny Willett has attained ‘Special Temporary’ membership of the PGA Tour following his share of 22nd place in the Valspar Championship.

Willett had posted a final round one over par 72 for an eventual similar four-day tally in his first showing, and to be tied with fellow Brit Luke Donald (70).

Danny Willett has earned PGA Tour 'Special Temporary' Membership for a second year running.

Danny Willett has earned PGA Tour ‘Special Temporary’ Membership for a second year running.

Willett, whose wife is due to give birth to the couple’s first child on the Sunday of next month’s final round at the Masters, collected some $40,000 for his Valspar effort to take his earnings close to $US 1m in his three PGA Tour counting events this 2015/16 season.

And in the process, the Sheffield-born golfer has passed the amount, as stipulated by the Tour, now has earned more in just his three counting PGA Tour starts than the amount earned by the player that finished 125th on last season’s 2014/15 money list.

And once he decides to accept membership he will move inside the top-30 on this year’s PGA Tour and put himself in prime position to qualify for the end of season lucrative FedEx Cup Play-Off Series.

“It’s been a good two weeks in Florida as I’ve earned enough money to again earn ‘Temporary Tour’ status again over here on the PGA Tour,” he said.

“So it’s nice to have already ticked a few of the boxes this season including taking a big step towards my first Ryder Cup, as I’ve got a good lot of points on that board.”
