The staging of the 2018 Senior Open Championship will complete the full set of Majors Championships to be held on the famed Old Course at St. Andrews.

News of the staging of the European Tour Seniors pinnacle tournament was announced today at the Home of Golf.

The 144th Open last year was the 29th occasion on which the Championship has been played at St. Andrews while the Old Course hosted the Ricoh British Women’s Open twice before.

The 2018 Senior Open will be staged from July 26th to 29th.

However while the European Tour and the R & A jointly made the announcement today the golf world still awaits confirmation of the staging of the 150th Open Championship in 2021.

It’s widely known among golf insiders the R & A will allocate the Old Course as the host course despite a trend in recent decades to allocate The Open to St. Andrews every five years.
