Padraig Harrington joked he hopes tearaway Masters leader Jordan Spieth will have time to come up for air after the American’s Masters efforts.
Harrington ended his round, and unfortunately missing the halfway cut with scores of 72 and 77 for a five over par tally.
It left the triple Major winner lying just inside the top-70 but well outside the expected cut-off mark of two over par.
Harrington had ended his round with Spieth having just birdied the par five 15th and move to 14-under par and a new Masters 36-hole opening low.
“It’s very impressive what he’s doing and he’s lapping the field at the moment,” said Harrington.

“It’s just phenomenal exhibition of golf and it’s going to be a tough position for everyone else from that position he’s now in.
“It’s a position everyone out here would love to try their hand at.
“And rather than the fact he’s 21, it’s the fact he’s been playing well for a few months now is a big plus for him, and you can’t beat that confidence of winning.
“Jordan’s had a good run of late so he’s in the right place and as long as he doesn’t come up for air he’ll be okay.”
Harrington’s second round got off to a poor start when he again bogeyed the first and he then dropped four shots over the next 10 holes.
His only birdie was at the 13th and that he had taken four a day earlier.
“I started badly so when you do that you are always looking over your shoulder,” he said.
“I don’t get annoyed but then if you are a few under par you are thinking of going further while being over par you are quickly thinking of what is the cut line.”
Harrington was heading to a three-way break from competition and taking his young family south-east to Orlando and the same hotel where a few years back he smashed a window in taking a practice swing.
“We’re going back to the Portofino Bay Universal Hotel and the place where I broke the window,” he said smiling.
“My next event will be the Players Championship (May 7th to 10th) and the following week’s Wells Fargo Championship (May 14th to 17th).”
