Warren’s Magnolia Lane Drive Continues Thanks To Session In Front Of Malaysian Hotel Mirror.

Marc Warren’s Magnolia Lane drive continues in the right direction with a second top-10 in three event and all thanks to a practice session in front of his Kuala Lumpur hotel room mirror.

Warren grabbed five birdies in a final round 68 to share ninth place at 10-under par in the Maybank Malaysian Open in the steamy Malaysian capital.

It left the Scot trailing six shots behind Indian Aniban Lahiri who captured a maiden European Tour titles with a closing day 68 after a day earlier posting a 62, to win by a shot with a 16-under par tally.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger, who went into the last day leading by two, struggled with a 74 to be second on 15-under par.

Warren arrived in the Malaysian capital ranked 50th in the world and is certain to pick up one or two spots when the rankings are officially adjusted this morning (MON).

It will keep on track his dream of contesting April’s Masters at Augusta National.

Warren is remaining in the Far East to heads off to this week’s inaugural co-sanctioned Thailand Classic and buoyed by a Friday night practice session in front of the mirror in his hotel room.

And unlike the devastation he created at the 2007 Seve Trophy in Ireland, Warren on this occasion managed not to destroy a chandelier and also avoid being taken to hospital with a deep cut in his stomach and other cuts to his face.

He said:  “I took a club back to my hotel room on Friday night and managed to work out while swinging the club in front of the mirror one or two little things that helped over the weekend.

“And thankfully I didn’t destroy any chandeliers as I made sure of that given it was a pretty high ceiling in the room.

“But after struggling with my game at the start of the week I am delighted with the finish as my long game wasn’t the best but I managed to hang in there with my short game.

“It’s another great result this season and everything is heading in the right direction, and it’s even more pleasing to know that when I am not featuring near the top of a tournament and I may not be playing at my best, I can still produce a decent finish.”
