Young Aussie professional Peter Stojanovski will tee up in Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Invitational on the Yas Links course in the UAE capital.
The 19-year old is among 20 invitations in a field of 56 pros who will take to the stunning Kyle Phillips designed course.
The one-day Pro-Am event was last staged in 2012 with Scotland’s Richie Ramsay successful.
Two years ago the Sydney-born Stojanovski holed a birdie putt on the 18th hole of the Majlis course in Dubai, and host venue each of the Dubai Desert Classic, to win a two-hole play-off and the Emirates Amateur Open.
Stojanovski is attached to the Cabramatta Golf Club in south-west Sydney at age 15 won the club championship, and with his Emirates Amateur success seeing him follow in the footsteps of the likes of Peter Hanson and Michael Hoey.
McIlroy heads the list of invitations that also includes: Sandy Lyle, Jeev Milka Singh, Steve Webster, Peter Lawrie, Michael Hoey, Ricardo Gonzalez, Robert Rock, Lee Slattery, Brett Rumford, Alex Noren, Thomas Pieters, Matthew Nixon, Tom Lewis, Renato Paratore, Matthew Fitzpatrick and the two stars of the Ladies European Tour in Amy Boulden and Carly Booth.
The remainder of the field is a who’s who of the European Tour including Ryder Cup stars Stephen Gallacher, Edoardo Molinari, David Howell and Oliver Wilson along with Germany’s Marcel Siem, Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal, Aussies Wade Ormsby and Richard Green, South African Thomas Aiken, Italy’s Matteo Manassero, Chile’s Felipe Agular, Scotland’s Craig Lee and the French players Romain Wattel and Gregory Bourdy.
