Former Masters Champion Adam Scott revealed he’s had over 100 offers for a new caddy including a Florida fellow at home looking after his mother.
Scott has had the ‘Position Vacant’ sign posted since Kiwi-born Steve Williams ended his caddying career with the Australian at the close of the recent Tour Championship.
Williams, who had caddied for all but one of Tiger Woods’ 14 Majors, announced after 37 years he was retiring as the world’s richest caddy and leaving the World No. 2 ranked Scott without a bagman.
“I’ve had more than a 100 approaches from people looking to caddy for me,” he said.

“There was some shockers, like random ones including some guy who lives at home and looks after his mum.
“I don’t know why he wanted to caddy for me but then I guess he figured it would be a good job (laughing).
“I’ve been in touch with most but I still have a little time on my side.”
Scott is yet to appoint a replacement for Williams and for his remaining events of 2014, including this week’s WGC – HSBC Champions along with his final event and his revenge showdown with Rory McIlroy at the Australian Open, the Aussie will use some of his best mates.
But while he continues to wade through the applications he’s received Scott singled out Williams for special praise.
He said: “I am looking at using different guys and each with different personalities but then I am very sensitive of everyone’s situation at present
“Steve was a huge influence on my career, huge and when that opportunity came along for Steve to work me it was just great timing as I was getting to that point where I needed that last little piece of the puzzle.
“So Steve filling in when he did was perfect timing and he complimented everything that I was working on and helped push me on to get right up there to where I wanted to be.
“Then ultimately a year and a half into our relationship we won the Masters together and that was huge.
“So he was incredible and the way I see it you can’t replace a Steve Williams. I just can’t go out and find a new Steve Williams and I need to find a caddy who is going to work for me now and continue to compliment all the things I am working on.
“But then I knew when Steve came on board we were on borrowed time together but I was really fortunate we had a good three years together.
“So until I do find a new full-time caddy I am using my best mate who lives next door to me at Crans in Switzerland this week and who I’ve known for 13 years, and then when I go back to Australia later this month I will also use a couple of good friends.”
