On a week somewhat overshadowed by the Dustin Johnson controversy and three Open Champions found themselves being asked to attend a random drugs test.
For Tiger Woods it was his first this season after being asked to provide a ‘sample’ following his second round here at the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational.
Louis Oosthuizen had been in the Firestone clubhouse for the three hour and 17 minute delay, and no doubt consuming a few cups of coffee. before returning to the 18th green at 4pm local time to complete his round.
However waiting for the South African was the representative of the Tour ready to escort Oosthuizen to the privacy of an office where he could also provide a ‘sample’.
McIlroy returned from the storm delay to birdie his closing two holes and cut Sergio Garcia’s then five shot lead down to just three.
But after his many media commitments, the three time Major winner was also taken away by buggy and for his first random test since the Honda Classic in March.
