Shane Lowry Not Sitting Idle After Comfort Of Securing Open Championship Tee Time.

Shane Lowry does not intend to sit idle this week after the comfort of securing a place into next fortnight’s British Open.

Lowry was among four players to join the Royal Liverpool field and qualifying in remaining inside the top-20 on the Race to Dubai money list following Sunday’s concluding BMW International Open in Cologne.

It will be Lowry’s third British Open appearance and comes just weeks after he finished the leading U.S. Open qualifier at Walton Heath.

“I’ve never played Royal Liverpool so I am now looking forward to it,” he said.

“I remember watching the 2006 Open where Tiger won and I recall it being hot and with course very dry and playing very fast.”

Lowry will sit out this week’s French Open, where he had secured his maiden pay cheque of Euro 16,800 in the 2009 event, and will return to compete also for a first time next week Royal Aberdeen and venue for the Scottish Open.

“I’ve also haven’t played Royal Aberdeen but then I’ve heard so much about the course, and they’ve got a great field for the tournament,” he said.

“But then I’m looking forward to this week off and while I am not competing I intend keeping busy and will work on my links game with a couple of games maybe at Portmarnoch before heading over to Scotland.

“So a week practicing at home and  given Royal Aberdeen is a classic links course, I feel I should be more than prepared for The Open.”
