Tiger Woods Not Concerned In Missing Quicken Loans Congressional Halfway Cut.

Long time World No. 1 Tiger Woods was unconcerned in missing the halfway cut in his return after a three month injury lay off in the Quicken Loans National on the Congressional course in suburban Maryland.

The 14-time Major champion shot a four over par 75 and added to his three over par opening round of 74 it meant a seven over par tally for the American.

But while the majority are quick to report the bare facts those who cover golf full time realise this was Woods first event since a final round 78 to share 25th place in last March’s WGC – Cadillac Championship at Doral in suburban Miami.

Woods then underwent surgery on his injured back and the golf world in general breathed a huge sigh of relief when he returned his week at Congressional.

“I came back four weeks earlier than I thought we could,” said Woods.

“I had no setbacks, no pain. I got my feel for playing tournament golf. I’m encouraged by what happened this week.

“My short game was off. I made a ton of simple little mistakes. I probably should have spent more time chipping than I did.  The thing I was worried about the most was hitting driver. I hit it really well the last two days.”

Fellow American Billy Horschel was among Woods’ peers who were thankful Woods was fit enough to tee it up at Congressional:
