Graeme McDowell Gutted After Missing Masters Cut.

Graeme McDowell was left wondering if he will ever get the better of Augusta after missing the cut with scores of 72 and 78 for a six over par tally.

It is the firth occasion in seven Augusta appearances the current World No. 14 has missed the cut.

McDowell’s second day was a sour mix of a first hole double bogey, four other bogeys, an 11th hole double and just a pair of birdies.

“You put everything into the first Major Championship but after doubling the first I walked off there feeling how I don’t want to feel on this golf course, and that is uncomfortable,” he said.

“I had managed to control myself and stay comfortable all day on Thursday and it only took me about two or three shots today to get me out of my comfort zone.

“But after the first it had me on the back foot for the rest of the day.

“So I am bitterly disappointed and this is a tough test for me when I am not putting well as I just threw too many shots away around the greens these last two days with a putter in my hand.

“That’s just not good enough and it’s deju vu standing here saying the same again on a Friday evening.

“So it’s disappointing as there will be no green jackets in my wardrobe anytime in the near future and I’ve got some work to do if I am going to win around this place.

“But it’s all good and where else would you want to be in the golfing world this week, and while very disappointed, I am very fortunate to be here and while it hurts right now, I will be alright.”

McDowell was remaining in Augusta before taking the some three hour drive south-east to Hilton Head in South Carolina where  on Thursday he will kick-start the defence of his RBC Heritage Classic title.
