Simon Dyson Saves Embarrassment By Withdrawing From Turkish Airlines Open.

Embattled Simon Dyson has withdrawn from next week’s inaugural Turkish Airlines Open.

Simon Dyson during the first round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf ChampionshipsThe England golfer is facing a disciplinary hearing after being disqualified from last week’s BMW Masters for incorrectly tapping down a spike mark during the second round of the event at Lake Malaren.

The European Tour issued a statement on Thursday stating Dyson has a case to answer and called the six-time Tour winner before a disciplinary panel at a date to be decided and with Dyson soon after breaking his silence by declaring he has never knowingly broken the rules.

Dyson slipped to 68th on the Race to Dubai following his Shanghai sacking and had been in the Turkey field until yesterday.

However at the close of entries at 5pm (UK time) on Friday Dyson’s name had been removed in the field of just 74 players set to contest the $7m tournament.

It will mean also the 35-year old, and former triple KLM Open winner, will end the season with his poorest Race to Dubai standing since 2004 when he ended the year in 80th position on the money list.

Dyson’s place has been taken by talented German Max Keiffer.

Also in next week’s event is Colin Montgomerie who designed the host Montgomerie Maxx Royal course.
