European Tour Chief Referee, Andy McFee will be side-lined for some time after breaking his right ankle today when he slipped near the 18th green on this week’s host Maxx Royal course and venue for the inaugural Turkish Airlines Open in Belek.

People rushed to McFee’s aid including the girlfriend to Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazabal.

McFee was conveyed to a nearby hospital where it’s understood his leg has been placed in plaster.

It is unclear if McFee will remain in Turkey to officiate in this week’s $7m event.

McFee and fellow European Tour Chief Referee, John Paramor are two the most respected rules officials in golf.
