Tim Finchem to announce a further spreading of the PGA Tour’s tentacles with the setting up of a PGA Tour of China.

The news, to be confirmed at noon Sunday Shanghai time, comes after the PGA Tour extended its tentacles in setting up a Latin PGA Tour and also the PGA Tour of Canada.

www.golfbytourmiss.com understand there will be 12 tournaments starting in March next year and each carrying a prize purse of RMB 1.2m or close to $US 200,000.

And given revelations some months ago the PGA Tour was considering making a move on the  European Tour, and was later denied, it still raises the question where will setting up of a PGA Tour in China leave the European Tour given the European Tour currently runs three events in China.

Those events include the Volvo China Open, BMW Masters and was instrumental in setting-up this week’s HSBC Champions.

As well, the OneAsia Tour is already heavily involved in staging of four events in China in a 2013 schedule boasting 14 events.

It will be a question www.golfbytourmiss.com will put to Commissioner Finchem.
