Marc Warren has marked his return to the next week’s Seve Trophy recalling a night in his last appearance when the near naked Scot accidentally shattered a hotel room chandelier that left him drenched in blood.
Warren made his Seve Trophy debut in 2007 at the Heritage Club in Ireland when a Nick Faldo captained GB & I side defeated a Seve Ballesteros led European Team.
His place in the 2013 Sam Torrance captained GB & I team was confirmed today (Tues)

However after Warren had teamed with fellow Scot Colin Montgomerie over the opening two days in Ireland he was forced to sit out the Saturday round following a bizarre incident in his Dublin hotel room later on Friday night.
The Glaswegian had taken a shower before emerging with just a towel wrapped around his body to work on a swing thought.
However in taking a number of practice swings Warren smashed an overhead chandelier that showered him with glass fragments and leaving him with many cuts on his face but also a deep wound in the area of his sternum.
The Scot quickly grabbed for a hand towel but that soon became drenched in blood.
“Six years on and I’ve still got a scar on my chest to remind me of that night,” he said.
“I was in the shower when I came up with a new idea for my backswing. So I jumped straight out, wrapped a towel around me and grabbed my 5-iron.
“I had about 10 goes at the backswing and then the last one I followed through and felt a thud on my head as the chandelier collapsed on me.
“It was scary because the gash was almost over my heart. It was about an inch wide open and I thought ‘oh that’s disgusting’.
“Then I looked down and my towel was red from all the blood, so I got a hand towel and it quickly filled up with blood so I had to get another one.
“Then the lights went out, which only made it even worse.
“So I tried to phone my wife Laura but she was in the spa getting a massage, so I was really worrying now.
“Fortunately I’d spoken to Bradley Dredge that day and he said he had a suite and I remembered his room number so I phoned him.
“Then about five minutes later Monty comes to the door holding a drink and he just pointed and laughed at me, saying ‘look at the mess of you’.
“Then Faldo phoned the room once he heard and said don’t worry, I’ll get a replacement, but I said ‘I’m not playing that badly!’
“Then the driver taking me to hospital thought I was going to a restaurant.
“But I’ve walked out of the hotel wearing a t-shirt and holding a towel covered with blood stains on it and yet when I got in he said ‘what restaurant is it?’
“Then he managed to stall the car twice getting out of the driveway.
“The doctors then gave me something like 68 butterfly stitches and I had to sit out the next day’s play but fortunately I was okay.”
Warren is among four Scots who will represent Great Britain and Ireland next week at the St. Nom-la-Breteche club near Versaillles in France.
