Harrington – Everything Was Average, Average – Even The Swiss Practice Range Is Average.

Struggling Padraig Harrington returned to the Omega European Masters for a first time in 13 years and signing off for a one under par 70 on the  Crans-sur-Sierre course.

The triple Major winner and current World No. 91 was not near as upbeat as a day earlier when he posted five birdies in a score of 67 during the Pro Am.

Instead the word for the day following his first round on the Alpine course as – average.

“The golf was okay today with some good and some bad,” he said.

“But then everything was average, completely average.  Average, average, average. No highlights and no low lights. Average, average, average.”

And average was the word Harrington used to describe the course practice range, so much so he was avoiding the facility that become a ski area in winter and instead was just going to work on his chipping and putting.

It will see Harrington head into the second round seven shots behind India’s Anirban Lahiri who snatched two eagles in a score of an eight under par 63 to lead the co-sanctioned European and Asian Tour field by two shots.

www.golfbytourmiss.com reported on the eve of the event Harrington’s poor record in The Alps.

In his last journey into The Alps Harrington missed the cut and prior to 2000 he posted results of 30th (1998), 63rd (1997) and 18th on debut in 1996.
