Phil Mickelson struck yet another Open Championship blow for the over-40 golfers in capturing the golf’s oldest major.
Mickelson turned 43 on June 16th this year and follows Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke (42 in 2011) and Ernie Els (42 in 2012) as winner of The Open.
Sal Johnson, author of www.golfstats.com, believes it to be the first time in Open Championship history that there has been three over-40 champions in succession.
