Lee Westwood Looks To Join Justin Rose As First Englishmen To Win Two Majors In A Year Since 1909.

If Lee Westwood captures the 142nd Open Championship to join fellow Englishman Justin Rose, and the reigning US Open winner, then it will be the first time since 1909 two England-born golfers have won two different majors in a same year.

The last time two Englishman won Majors in the same season was J H Taylor who captured the fourth of his five Open victories while George Sargeant also captured the 1909 US Open at the Englewood Club and also setting a new four round low of 290 and the first time the 300 strokes mark had been broken.
