Rory McIlroy Avoids Prickly Position On Day Two Of Valero Texas Open

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy found himself in a prickly position midway through his second round in the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.

McIlroy’s tee shot came to rest close to a cactus plant down the left side of the ninth hole of the TPC San Antonio course and with the 23-year old avoiding being stung despite walking off with a bogey.

However his decision to add the Texas event to his schedule was set pay dividends with the struggling double Major winner looking assured to play all four rounds of the $6.2m event.
