Reigning Masters champion, Bubba Watson must had guests dinner crying over his choice of menu for the Former Champions dinner.
After his bawling speech hours earlier on how special Augusta National is to him, Watson’s dinner choice showed little imagination and was something you’d probably find being served at the local KFC outlet on nearby Washington Road.
For starters there was ‘Traditional Caesar salad’ followed by ‘Grilled Chicken Breast served with Green Beans, Mashed Potato, Corn, Macaroni & Cheese’.
Sweets consisted of ‘Confetti Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream’.
It’s little wonder a number of past Masters winners promptly ordered steak.
And double August National winner, Nick Faldo tweeted: “You had a year to decide on, grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, macaroni cheese!!!”
It’s been estimated the calorie count for the meal checked in at 960 calories per serving, which ranked as the highest in 10 years when Canadian Mike Weir’s choice consisted of elk and wild boar.
There was also another dinner in Augusta that night and the now annual European Tour hosted dinner for the media. It was again a wonderful occasion held at the Augusta Country Club.
A copy of the menu is hereunder and I can assure you the food was superb when compared to what Watson had served up ‘over the fence’ at Augusta National.
