World No. 1 Rory McIlroy is starring in a new Nike commercial and this time on his lonesome.
McIlroy’s maiden marketing exercise with Nike was shown ahead of Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship week and featuring he and Woods trying to ‘outscore’ each other with trick shots.
On this occasion, McIlroy’s new commercial is all about McIlroy and his new Nike Covert driver.

He steps onto the tee in match supposedly featuring two other Nike players in Nick Watney and Kyle Stanley. Stanley also signed with Nike this year but with hardly the fanfare that’s surrounded the double Major winning McIlroy.
However you don’t see Watney or Stanley, and McIlroy’s caddy is not his regular caddy – J P Fitzgerald.
As McIlroy takes his address the commercials cuts to a clubhouse where fans stop what they’ve doing to see McIlroy tee off while those on the course gather along the ropeline also in anticipation.
There’s is two different location cuts to large TV screens – one possibly in the centre of London and the other somewhere in China – showing a close-up of the driver.
McIlroy hits his drive to the sound of something like a gun shot, and the crowd in the grandstand behind on the tee strangely stand in one to applaud.
We’re not sure if McIlroy found the fairway or not.
