Rory McIlroy Puts Haiti Visit On Hold To Focus Fully On Valero Texas Open.

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy has postponed a visit early next week to Haiti to focus on competing in the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.

McIlroy was due to travel direct from Houston and this week’s Shell Houston Open to the earthquake ravaged island he first visited in 2011.

However with McIlroy confirming late on Friday he was going to add the $6.2m Texas Open to his schedule he’s now put on hold a visit to Haiti.

According to a statement released by UNICEF, the organization with which McIlroy was planning the mission, he said:  “Unfortunately, I have had to postpone my planned trip to Haiti with UNICEF, due to a change in my playing commitments. … We are currently looking at dates to reschedule my trip and look forward to visiting Haiti very soon.”

McIlroy has never competed in the Valero Texas Open and he’s never played in an event before the Masters but after having played just 11 stroke play rounds this year the 23-year old is desperate to find his double Major winning form before the season’s first major.
