While Tiger Woods was working his way back to golf’s World No. 1 Rory McIlroy was spotted hitting range balls at the Miami Municipal Golf Course.

Of course, McIlroy was in Miami watching girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki compete in the Sony Open tennis tournament.

McIlroy could have easily popped over to Donald Trump’s Blue Monster practice range or any of a dozen or so exclusive golf courses in the Miami region.

But in a reminder of McIlroy’s golfing roots, he went to a municipal course and probably paid less than $20 to hit a couple of buckets of rock hard range balls before teeing up later this week in the Shell Houston Open.

And from spending $20 on the Miami range, McIlroy tees up in the Lone Star State looking to capture a $1.3m first prize cheque, and McIlroy will need to capture the Houston event if he’s to return to World No. 1.
