The framed display piece had been secured to a wall in the club’s new men’s washroom in the recently-opened club house extension.

However the thief has ripped the entire frame from its secure fixings.

“This theft is very frustrating because we had sought to make our newly built extension look interesting and appealing,” said Club Manager, Les Holmes who arranged for Harrington to sign the flag.

“Incidents like this mean that we will have to rethink our strategy for displaying items.

“Its a sign of the times that we live in, when someone resorts to stealing from a sports facility which is used by much of the local community.

“The person who stole this item will probably attempt to off load it in order to raise money.”

He said there is a reward available for information leading to the conviction of the thief.

Anyone with information about the theft should call UK police on – 101.
