ROUND TWO (All figures are in yards)
HOLE 1…Kicks in from 4(L…left) but “tier” 11 wide. Easy if lose (R…right) of green
2…Must finish(R)
Kicks in from (R) & pitches into slope so minimal release
3…Favour (L) half fairway off the tee as better line in
Kicks in from top of slope 10(L)of pin so don’t attack pin as downgrain off slope & ACCEPT A 10 YARD PUTT ACCROSS THE GREEN FOR PAR!!
Play 32 pin & not 30
4…Direct – Minimum 255, Maximum 290 but 265-275 leaves good line in through opening & front “tier” is into grain.
Lay up – if (L) fairway the 188 back is to yellow square & NOT red square & leaves 108 front.
5…Easier 2nd shot to todays pin from wide fairway (L)of (L) bunker & there is 26 yards to edge of fairway(L) if aiming on tee for (R) edge of (L) bunker.
The course designer has created this RO (run off) left for todays pin so respect his thought process!!
6…3(R) for (C…centre) & kicks in R – L
Front +3 to top of upslope @ front BUT easy fairway short of green if miss 2nd shot.
7…Direct – as seen
Lay up from 115 in – favour just (L) to kick in & eliminates down grain swail also starting 20 (R)
8…Play 16 not 17
Must finish (L) of pin as kicks in L -R & very good %shot.
9…Falls away from 3 (R) so positive shot is 2(L) of 7(L) pin & mid 10 yard “tier”.
Previous years could use bank(L) but longer rough(L) so may not come down into green!!
10..Plan on tee to play high shot in for 2nd!!
Attack as easy if miss(R) of green
Swail 14 wide so 10 to top(L).
Down grain from pin -8 & runs away pin +2 (now you see advantage of high shot in for 2nd planned on tee!?)
11…Attack as minimal 4 wide slope on (L) of pin.
Pin mid “tier” (7 over false front & 7 behind)
12…Tee shot – long hitters can now go over (R) bunker off tee & will go miles down fairway when firming up. This is a massive modification as previously there was rough over the bunker & RO on left bunkers limited the options off the tee!!!
MUST finish (R) of pin
13…1(R) for(C) & kicks in & easy as into grain.
14…If no wind allow for up to 7 release(depends on player, club & shot).
15…Beware down grain 17 – 27!!
Swail 8 wide – Be positive as easy if runs off green(R) & simple chip
16…Must finish(R)of pin leaving positive putt with backstop
17…Be positive but pitch (R) of pin as good backstop rear of green & misses downslope (L) of pin!!
18…2nd shot Lay up – bunker clearances & run-outs.
a. bunker clearances…
88 in from fairway bunker(L) =196 back Y.
105 in(R) side of fairway bunker(L) = 179 back Y.
105 in fairway bunker(R) = 191 into fairway back to Y. & NOT 179 as 12 yards rough over bunker
b. bunker run outs…….(L) fairway bunker = 133 back Y.
(R) “ “ = 166 back Y.
2nd Direct – as seen
3rd shot – kicks in from 2(L) but favour (R) of pin as positive pin high putt with backstop.
