Triple Major winning Padraig Harrington had spent some 20 minutes entertaining the predominantly Singapore based media at a pre-Barclays Singapore Open press conference.
The unshaven Dubliner touched on a range a subjects from his joy in capturing last month’s PGA Grand Slam of Golf, how he’s still disappointing in losing the 2008 tournament to Jeev Milka Singh and recollections, as an 18-year old, of playing in an amateur event at Dundlalk when declared he’s chocked so bad.
However once the official part of the conference ended Harrington conducted three TV interviews.
It was afterwards Harrington was approached and asked his opinion on Rory McIlroy switching from Titleist to Nike. Harrington had began his pro career playing with Maxfli clubs but three years down the track in 1998 he switched to Wilson Staff and has remained loyal to the company since.
But in responding to the question Harrington’s response was easily the shortest of his time in the Media Centre.
“Not a chance am I going down that road, not even a chance!” he stated.
“I’m not going that way. I just would not get my name associated good, bad or otherwise with that subject. I’m just not going there, period!”
