Rory McIlroy Be Warned As Kristoffer Broberg Has You In His Sights.

There’s a golfer competing in Europe who has a similar winning record in recent weeks as World No. 1 Rory McIlroy.

Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg set the secondary Challenge Tour alight and earned his 2013 European Tour card in the space of just five events with a ninth in his first tournament and then winning three of his next four tournaments.

Broberg’s effort has never been matched previously on the secondary Challenge Tour, and probably for that matter on the Buy.com Tour in the U.S.

It all began the day after Broberg’s 26th birthday on Wednesday 1st August.

He then about capturing the Finnish Challenge winning Euro 27,200 and a week later Broberg was handed a cheque for Euro 28,000 in capturing the Norwegian Challenge.

Broberg, who stands out for his long brown hair, then finished third in the Ecco Tour Championship in Denmark before stepping back into the winner’s enclosure with success the very next week in the Rolex Trophy in Switzerland.

The quietly-spoken Swede, who is now lying third on the Challenge Tour money list, is contesting week’s BMW Italian Open where he will commence the final round on seven under par and 10 behind South African Garth Mulroy.

“I am really pleased to be playing in Italy as it’s the first time I have played this tournament,” he said.

“But I am really looking forward more to starting full time on the Race to Dubai early next year in South Africa.

“It’s been a pretty amazing few months winning three times on the Challenge Tour to get my European Tour card.

“I’ve only played one European Tour event before this week and that was the Omega European Masters a few weeks ago.”

And Broberg, who didn’t start playing golf to he was 12 years of age, singled out fellow Swede Alex Noren as pivotal in his career development.

“Alex has been really great and I owe him a lot because he’s given me a lot of his time and support and I’m grateful for that,” said Broberg.

“Alex also has given me some financial support at the start of my career.

“We practice a lot together and he’s also become a very good friend.”

So the message to Rory McIlroy is clear – ‘Look out Rory, there’s a storming Swede now ready to take to the European Tour fairways.”
