The BMW Italian Open ended with a Spaniard winning Italy’s national open just as an Italian had won the Spanish Open earlier this year in Seville.

So congratulationxs to Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano who won a second BMW Italian Open title by two shots from the very talented and good friend of www.golfbytourmiss.com, Garth Mulroy.

The night before myself and Rubee King were joined for dinner by leading Irish-born golf photographer, Fran Caffrey (www.golffile.ie), Scotland’s golfing doyen, Jock MacVicar and the Irish Independent’s Karl McGinty.

Karl was once again the life of the party and it was great to spend the evening with him ahead of probably the two biggest weeks of the year for him – the Tour Championship and the Ryder Cup.

Incidentally, all three – Fran, Jock and Karl – are heading to Medinah so the message from www.golfbytourmiss.com is don’t come home without the Ryder Cup.
