Colsaerts Chills Out To Put Heat Into BMW Italian Open.

Nicolas Colsaerts admitted he ‘chilled out’ on the Royal Park course that has seen the Belgian-born golfer add heat to the third round of the BMW Italian Open in Turin.

The Ryder Cup rookie came from share of 36th place at the start of the day to snare the clubhouse lead with a 65 for a 13-under par tally.

Moments later the 29-year old was joined by Italian stallion Matteo Manassero who also signed for a 65 in ideal scoring conditions.

“I am very happy with a 65 as I played well all day and I felt like I was chilling out on the course, and the few adjustments I made with my putting paid off,” he said.

“It just seems all the stars were aligned for me today.

“I gave myself a lot of birdie chances on the course and if I can roll in a few then it’s usually going to be pretty good.

“Also it’s like my mind is already somewhere else and I can just play freely, and even though today was a lot different I got on a roll and I was trying to squeeze every shot I could till the end.

“I know I won’t be leading tonight so I was trying to get as close as I could.”

Less than a day earlier, Colsaerts looked like he was heading for the weekend off before ending his second round in blistering manner with four birdies over his closing five holes in a 67 to make the cut by two strokes on six under par.

And with Rory McIroy winning three of his last four events and then fellow European team mates, Paul Lawrie, Sergio Garcia and also Peter Hanson winning, nothing would please Colsaerts better than to go to Chicago on a winning note.

“Regardles of what happens tomorrow, my goal is to get to the Ryder Cup as prepared as I can be and be in this frame of mind that I am now in,” he added.

“I’m doing all the right things.”
