World No. 1 Rory McIlroy crashed off the famed ‘Burma Road’ course missing the BMW PGA Championship halfway cut.
It’s the first time in over two years McIlroy has missed back-to-back cuts after last week sitting out the weekend rounds of the Players Championship.
The last occasion McIlroy was in the similar situation of having two weekends off in succession was 2010 when he missed the cut in the Shell Houston Open and the following week’s Masters.

TheĀ last time McIlroy missed back-to-back cuts in Europe was a run of four missed cuts in 2008 starting from the Open Championship and up to and including the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
McIlroy’s worst ever round was shooting an 83 on the opening day of the 2008 South African Open.
