Peter Lawrie returned to Seville and the venue of his 2008 Spanish Open success to be presented with an olive branch, come putter.
Rafael Lozano has a collection of some 500 putters he’s carved from olive branches and he presented Lawrie with the specially made club ahead of a practice round on the Real Club du Golf de Sevilla course.
“That will look really good in my collection,” said Lawrie.
A closer look at the putter reveals the Granada-based Lozano has fashioned the unique putter using nuts and bolts that mirrors the current ‘weird’ array of putters in use at tournaments.
Lozano has fashioned a similar looking putter to one he gave Lawrie using a rusty horseshoe.
He had a number of players contesting this week’s 100th Spanish Open sign the putters as you can see in the photos including former PGA Champion, Shaun Micheel and the Scotland pair of Ritchie Ramsay and Stephen Gallacher.
