Paul Lawrie has hinted he would like the launch of his autobiography ‘Paul Lawrie – An Open Book’ – to take place in October and at the Home of Golf.
It would coincide with the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship where 11 years ago Lawrie became the first winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and on a Monday when poor weather forced the event into a fifth day.
“We’ve finished off the book just recently so it’s ready to go to print,” said Lawrie ahead of this week’s Volvo World Match-Play Championship in Spain.
“It should be launched around October and the Dunhill Links the week after the Ryder Cup would be a great tournament to launch the book but we’ll see.”
And of note Lawrie won the first-ever Dunhill Links in 2001 using the then new Odyssey 2-Ball Putter.
“The funny thing is that the 2-Ball was a prototype and I managed to get my hands on it, and also Annike Sorenstam then used it a week or two later to win on the LPGA Tour,” said Lawrie.
“I’d like to know how many 2-Ball putters have been sold since my win at St. Andrews?”
Lawrie was speaking just moments after being honoured as the 22nd European Tour member to have played 500 Tour events.
Keith Waters, Director of International Policy with the Tour, handed Lawrie an inscribed ice bucket in honour on the feat.#
He is also the fourth Scottish-born player to have played more than 500 Tour events.
