Tiger Woods has suggested how to put more bite into the Blue Monster after posting a score of 67 to move into a share of 15th place heading to the weekend rounds of the WGC – Cadillac Championship.
Woods will tee up on day three of the $US 8.5m event trailing seven strokes behind Ryder Cup colleague Bubba Watson who heads the event by one stroke at 12-under par.
Watson matched his lowest PGA Tour score with an eagle and eight birdies and a score that was one shy of equallying the Doral Blue Monster course record
However after Donald Trump announced a day earlier he has purchased the course and has signed on Gil Hanse to undertake the redesign work Woods had some suggestions of his own that Hanse might like to take on board.

“When Raymond (Floyd) undertook to redo on the bunkers at the time, 280 was a carry,” said the 14-time Major winner.
“Now, you know, most of the golf courses we play, it’s 310 to 320. If we get normal wind or no wind at all, these bunkers really are not in play. They are right about 280.
So the longer hitters, it’s just drive it down there and you’ve got a wedge in your hand.
“So all they have to do is just get these fairways fast.
“But that’s something that they haven’t done. Or, get the greens rock hard. That will make guys not be as aggressive off the tees, because it puts a premium on getting the ball with spin into the greens. But the greens are soft.
“So even if the ball is in the rough, you can still hold a green. In years past, it wasn’t always the case. There’s some holes that, you know, if you hit the ball in the right bunker on 18, green‑side bunker, you’re praying that you don’t hit the ball in the water, if you land the ball on the green.
“This year, they are just slower and softer this year.”
News that Hanse and his Hanse Design company had been signed by Trump to redesign Doral came just two days after Hanse won the gold medal to design the 2016 Olympic Games host venue in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
This superb news was greeted very warmly in Scotland as Hanse’s work in widely regarded at the Home of Golf given the American designed the much-acclaimed Craighhead course at Crail in Fife.
And his design of the Craighead that now plays host the leading amateur world ranking Battle Trophy in many ways led to Hanse being appointed to design Castle Stuart and venue again for this year’s Scottish Open.
