Pablo Larrazabal Questions ‘Unfair’ Lip Out.

Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal headed into the delayed second round of the 39th Hassan II Trophy hopeful of not a repeat of a bizarre incident that occurred during his first day’s play on the Golf de Palasis Royal course in Agadir.

Straight after signing for a two over par 74 Larrazabal asked to be taken back to the par four 11th hole in the company of Tournament Director, Miguel Vidaor after complaining to his fellow compatriot the manner in the way the hole was cut.

“I hit an 18-inch putt on the 11th only that disappeared into the hole but the ball hit the tin cup and bounced out again costing me a shot,” Larrazabal said on his website.

“Miguel declared that the hole had been cut legally but the cups used here this week are thicker than normal and for the second round they are going to be set slightly deeper in the ground.

“Although that sort of thing can happen in a game of golf it upset me at the time and I was angry because it was not my fault.

“And when I three putted the 12th green I was four over par, 11 shots behind the first round leader Ireland’s Damien McGrane and in danger of not playing at the weekend.

“Two birdies at the 13th and 14th holes limited the overall damage but I know I am going to have to shoot low in the second round to make the cut.”

However a five-and-a-half hour delay to the start of the second round meant that Larrazabal would not be commencing his round to 1.30pm local time.

The double Tour winner is competing in the company of South African Jbe Kruger and Sweden’s Alex Noren.
