Padraig Harrington Not Travelling To Austria For A First Time To Admire The Scenery.

Triple Major winning Padraig Harrington is not making his pro debut in Austria just for the stunning scenery.

The Irishman joins fellow Open Champion, John Daly teeing up in next week’s Austrian Open being staged on the Diamond Country Club course at Atzenbrugg.

It’s a first time for both Harrington and Daly competing in the country made famous for ‘The Sound of Music’.

However Harrington’s travelling to Austria more out of necessity.

Despite winning last year on the Asian Tour, Harrington is looking to win for a first time on the European Tour in more than three years .

As well, Harrington is desperate to correct his dismal No. 78 World Ranking when you consider the Dubliner was as high as No. 3 early into the 2009 season..

Also Harrington is yet to qualify for the WGC – HSBC Champions event and at 87th in the Race to Dubai, the Dubliner is still 27 spots away from being among the leading 60 who will contest the season-ending Dubai World Championship.

And it also goes without saying, Harrington needs to kick-start his goal of qualifying for next year’s European Ryder Cup side.
